Not on the radio.
Thank god for the internet for people like me stuck in small towns where all the radio stations either play well known older hits or annoying mainstream numbers. For a change of flavor try this site. The site offers a free new .mp3 download everyday accompanied by a brief description of the band and the album. What's more, they still have all their older downloads available. The only annoying aspect of the site is that one must see a commercial to access it (unless you want to become a member), but it's well worth it.
Here are a few gems I discovered:
CocoRosie-"Beautiful Boyz"
Dwight Yoakam-"Blame the Vain"
Ed Askew-"Fancy That"
Imogen Heap-"Hide & Seek"
Dungen-"Panda"
The Robot Ate Me-"Bad Feelings"
Richard Swift-"As I Go"
Simon Joyner-"One for the Catholic Girls"
Albert Ayler-"Ghosts"
Kris Kristofferson-"Chase the Feeling"
Ok, that's enough of a sample. I would have provided the links but since I'm so new to this whole business of blogging I'm somewhat in the dark about the legal issues regarding providing links. Any feedback is welcome.
